Launch of the My Life After ICU website!

September 6, 2022

ANZICS is proud to support the launch of the My Life After ICU website.

Designed for patients who have survived an Intensive Care admission, their families and care givers, supports consumers as they navigate the challenges of recovery from critical illness.

The site provides information on common conditions such as fatigue, flashbacks and memory changes to help provide context and allay anxiety.  The ICU experience is explained, along with relevant topics for both children and adults to clarify medical terminology, procedures and machines frequently used in the ICU.

Tens of thousands of lives are touched by an ICU admission across Australia and New Zealand each year and we extend our thanks to those who have bravely shared their personal ICU stories on the site to help others.

Development of the website came about through a very generous donation from the Collins family in Western Australia.

‘The family is funding this website so that other patients and families can gain a better understanding of ICU and how it affects everyone and hopefully make their time a little less traumatic’. Tony Collins

The layout, readability and design of the site has been developed for the general population, with emphasis on making it accessible to those with low health literacy.

ANZICS is proud to maintain the website and to support efforts to provide timely, accurate and trusted information about Intensive Care medicine to the general community.  We congratulate Matt Anstey, Sarah Doyle, Alyssia Haling and all the project team.
