Critical Care Resources (CCR) Survey

The CCR Survey is an annual survey open to all intensive care units (ICUs) to collects data on the provision and utilisation of adult and paediatric critical care resources across Australia and New Zealand.

Established in 1993, the data collected includes the number of available ICU beds, admissions and readmissions, occupancy rates, ventilation hours, workforce data, costing, and information relating to ICU safety and quality indicators.

Data submitted through the survey is made available through a range of reports including Unit Detail, Comparative, and Time Series reports. Annual Activity Reports are provided to contributing hospitals, departments of health, and publicly accessible on the ANZICS CORE website.

CCR data provides timely, reliable intelligence on ICU practices, resources and outcomes. As demonstrated during the COVID‑19 pandemic, CCR data is a critical source of truth for clinicians and policymakers, supporting evidence‑based decision‑making and underpinning service planning and health research.
