ANZICS Clinical Leadership Program-Brisbane 2024

November 13, 2023

The ANZICS Clinical Leadership Program

Clinical Leadership in ICU: Culture, Communication and Resilience

Intensive care is a complex clinical environment providing unique challenges not experienced in other healthcare settings.  Through this lens, the ANZICS Clinical Leadership Program provides the opportunity for emerging clinical leaders to build tools and frameworks that will refine their leadership purpose, develop skills to negotiate workplace challenges and explore strategies to influence organisational change.

This module on culture, communication and leadership is delivered as a two-day workshop with 20 hours of online learning and is part of the bespoke clinical leadership program which has been developed by a truly multidisciplinary faculty.  Early career clinicians working in the intensive care across all specialties are invited to attend.

Program at a Glance:

At the conclusion of this module participants will:

  • Define and discuss the pillars of clinical leadership in an ICU environment,

  • Explore how leaders influence ICU culture and identify behaviours and characteristics that contribute to positive culture in the workplace,

  • Examine the individual, team and system dynamics that impact on ICU culture and analyse the role of a ‘safety culture’ in leading and managing organisational performance,

  • Design a strategy to enhance the psychological safety of an ICU team and formulate a collaborative plan to approach conflict resolution within the workplace, or

  • Identify a leadership challenge within an intensive care setting and develop an action plan to facilitate its resolution.

*Approved for CICM CPD
