The ANZICS Safety and Quality Committee works to promote world best practice standards in Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Medicine.

Promote safe patient centred care in Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Units
Define best practice in Australian and New Zealand Intensive Care Units.
Promote awareness of important developments in intensive care safety and quality throughout Australia and New Zealand.
Promote membership participation in the use of appropriate clinical indicators for measuring and comparing practice.

Establish and promote world best practice standards in intensive care medicine.
Improve access to and awareness of important developments in healthcare safety and quality.
Develop and distribute suitable tools to monitor adverse incidents and safety and quality metrics in intensive care practice.
Develop and promote comparative measures for intensive care units to evaluate their performance.
Develop policies and practices that encourage community awareness and participation in intensive care unit safety and quality processes.
Liaison with governments, health authorities, learned societies, and other non-governmental organisations on issues of safety and quality in intensive care medicine.
