The response to APICS 2020 exceeded our expectations – we garnered around 3000 international participants and received great feedback for the quality of our talks and speakers. \nMoving forward\, we have concerted our efforts into a single intensive care conference – the Asia Pacific Intensive Care Symposium (APICS). This rebranding reflects our position as the leading intensive care conference in the Asia Pacific region. SUMMARY:A Joint iSRRS and ANZICS Webinar Sustaining the Rapid Response System in Australia and New Zealand
DESCRIPTION:  \n“Sustaining the rapid response system in Australia and New Zealand”. \nDate and Time: 19th of July from 8:00 AM to 12:50 PM (Melbourne time) to accommodate for international speakers. \nAustralia and New Zealand were early adopters and are world leaders of the Rapid Response System model of care.  Such systems have been associated with reductions in in-hospital cardiac arrests and mortality for hospitalised patients. In Australia and New Zealand rapid response team staff are often comprised of intensive care doctors and nurses. \nIn recent years there has been a dramatic increase in the number of Rapid Response Team calls for hospitalised patients in many ICU-equipped hospitals. This has led to a strain on intensive care resources\, particularly when the service does not have dedicated staffing. \nThis webinar will address elements of sustainability\, clinician resourcing\, and supervision of registrars involved in the rapid response team. Strategies to improve the recognition and response of at risk in deteriorating patients in the period prior to breaching rapid response team criteria will be explored.
